When is the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War?

50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War is about to come and we are close to our events. National Vietnam War Veterans Day is an annual observance held on March 29 to honor and appreciate the service and sacrifices of our nation’s Vietnam veterans and their families.

When is the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War?

The day serves as a reminder of the immense contributions made by these veterans during one of the most challenging periods in American history. As part of the Vietnam Commemoration, there are few key objectives aimed at recognizing the significance of the Vietnam War and its impact:

  • Highlight the service of our Armed Forces and support organizations during the war.
  • Pay tribute to wartime contributions at home by American citizens.
  • Highlight technology, science, and medical advances made during the war.
  • Recognize contributions by our Allies.

50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemoration

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is particularly significant as it marks the official date set aside to honor Vietnam veterans. In 2024, the day falls on Sunday, March 29th.

Despite these challenges, several virtual events and activities have been organized to allow veterans and their families to participate and show their support:

Facebook

Veterans with a Facebook account can download a frame to display a picture and demonstrate pride for their service. Others can download a frame to show support for Vietnam War Veterans.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund

Hosts an online commemoration with a live webcast and messages of gratitude on Facebook. Veterans can record and upload short videos. They can also leave written messages to be a part of the event and recognize during the event.

Vietnam War Veterans of America

Encourages the sharing of photos, poems, artwork, and music on their Facebook page. Veterans can share their service photos and favorite C-Ration recipes as part of the commemoration.

Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins

Living U.S. Veterans who served on active duty between Nov. 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, are eligible to receive a lapel pin.

Team RWB Vietnam War Veterans Day Challenge

Team RWB Offers a virtual workout challenge in honor of Vietnam War Veterans, allowing participants to engage in physical activity while remembering those who served.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices of over 2.7 million U.S. service members who served in Vietnam. The commemoration honors the 58,000 names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It pays tribute to the wounded, missing in action, and prisoners of war. This recognition stems from the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017, which designated March 29th as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

The commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War will continue through Veterans Day 2025, ensuring that we remember and honor the sacrifices of these heroes for generations to come.
